Advent of Lucifer Day 7: The Serpent

Humans suffered the darkness of ignorance until the serpent introduced them to the light of reason and the bright illumination of knowledge and understanding. “God” sought to deny the transformative power of knowledge to humanity. The serpent, channeling the spirit of Prometheus, subverted God and gave humanity what it needed to liberate itself. Knowledge is power. Those without knowledge are powerless. God forbade Adam and Eve to eat the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge because he never wanted them to be free. They were to be his slaves forever, ignorant of what existence is and how it functions. ― David Sinclair, The Church of the Serpent: The Philosophy of the Snake and Attaining Transcendent Knowledge

The Serpent

Part of the 2022 Advent of Lucifer

If a Luciferian seems a little preoccupied with the acquisition and liberation of knowledge, one must forgive us. The prime forces arrayed against us from birth seek to control, withhold, and distort knowledge in order to make slaves of the ignorant. This is no hyperbole, it is a primary tenet of Christianity, and a lever of oppression consistently used by fascists throughout history.

We must become the serpent, growing in power beneath notice, gaining wisdom. We must concern ourselves with what is real and practical in the dying light, and serve as initiator to those who would cast off their chains.

In the Luciferian Dominion, the serpent is a sacred creature; elusive, resilient, placing truths where they do the most individual good and the most systemic harm. The serpent also represents personal growth and change, shedding our skins as necessary to allow us to become who we need to be. Finally, the serpent is symbolic of the earth, of herbal wisdom, of venom and medicine, for what creature is closer to the earth than the serpent?

Charging the Sigil

The Serpent speaks to our thirst for knowledge and wisdom. Our quest is by no means an easy one – we are the perpetual students of this world, constantly seeking answers. The Serpent asks us to awaken our minds, increasing our awareness, so that we may transform our lives with understanding. With wisdom, we set our minds free and break the chains that bind us.

As we devote our time this month to honoring Lucifer, charging our sigil encourages a deeper connection. If this is your first time charging a symbol like this, you can think of it like a moodboard – this sigil represents us as a community and religion. What does this sigil mean to you? What can it represent? Take the time to focus and reflect, meditate on what each of our concepts mean to you and how they can apply to our lives.

For our energy workers, you may charge our sigil by visualizing a bright white light surrounding it. Use breath work to guide this energy into the sigil, knowing that it grows in strength as you do so. You can also focus our themed concepts into the sigil using meditation and our affirmations to program this energy. This will serve to strengthen our sigil for later use in our ritual.

The following incantation may be used as part of your sigil charging, or used as an affirmation:

“Honor thy wisdom, thy eternal student.”

Daily Devotion

The Serpent inspires us to learn new things. Start reading a new book, research a new topic of interest, try something you’ve never done before. We are humble students of this Earth, ever growing in knowledge.

Make Your Own

We encourage you to make your own oracle card for each of our themed days, so that come the end of our Advent, you will have your own Luciferian oracle deck. These cards may be used to give you insight on what you may need to work with in the future.

We recommend using blank playing cards if available, but any kind of art or canvas cards, even lined notecards can be used. Make your drawing or symbol (it doesn’t have to be amazing, only meaningful to you) on one side and on the other write down any key phrases or words or concepts that resonate with the image to you.

If you choose to share your result, which we would love to see, you may use the hashtags #luciferiandominion and #adventoflucifer so that we can find them! If you choose to make your oracle deck part of your #Inktober or #Drawloween events, please feel free to use those hashtags and include them in relevant spaces!

Happy creating during this blessed Advent!
