Advent of Lucifer Day 26: The Liberator

“Those who do not move, do not notice their chains.”

The Liberator

Part of the 2022 Advent of Lucifer

Liberation, like Enlightenment, is a term that gets thrown around a lot in Satanist and Luciferian circles without ever managing to actually mean anything. Most of us think of liberation as being free from constraints, but the conversation tends to peter off there. Do we believe in abject unrestriction to act upon every whim? Do we believe in speech that is purposefully misleading, or designed to poison? Do we believe in freedom to shit down the well?

Frankly, I don’t believe most people are responsible or considerate enough to live without rules, at least until concepts like ecology and healthy communication are ubiquitous. You may have different ideas, but ultimately it doesn’t matter if we agree, because one simple fact:

Liberation does not happen without power.

Oppressors do not ease their grip because you ask. You cannot shame them, because you are delegitimized in their eyes. The language of the oppressor is dehumanization while they, themselves, act inhuman. You cannot break the back of fascism with rhetorical “gotchas” because these people have been inoculated to reason. Merely inconveniencing them is insufficient, because you leave them enough control to undermine, ignore, or work around your actions. You cannot simply boycott your oppressors; they are your oppressors because they have designed to extract wealth from you whether you want them to or not. Corporate power is far too consolidated and as we know, corporations control politicians, who control police power.

Lucifer did not rebel on his own. If we are to be liberators, two things must happen: We must remove as many levers of control over our lives as we can – you cannot be manipulated into compliance through the threat of your job, the removal of healthcare, access to clean food and water, or peace and safety. These are the tools the oppressor uses to keep people in line. There is no liberation if your oppressor has only to lift a finger to cut off your essential human needs, or throw your life into chaos.

Second, we must command resources of our own. We must be able to feed people they don’t want to be fed. We must be able to shelter people they don’t want to be sheltered. Liberation begins at the bottom, with the people over whom the levers of power have been exerted the most cruelly.

This is our religious imperative. If you are in Luciferian spaces and are not about the work of actual liberation, of yourself, and others, then you are a tourist. An impostor. A liability.

Lastly, the contrarian is not a liberator. The contrarian doesn’t want anything. The contrarian has no ideas, nothing of value to offer, only baseless criticism. We must make certain that our passion for liberation is based in reason and purpose, not detraction as arbitrary as the oppression we face. Liberation is the work of visionaries, iconoclasts, and abolitionists. Contrarians serve only as a foil – they work as a heat sink for energy and momentum, derailing, muddying, fomenting discord for any or no reason at all – for its own sake. Discord is ambrosia to the contrarian.

And there is virtually no difference between the well documented psyops carried out by agents of the state to disrupt movements, and the genuine contrarians who crop up from within movements. The state has realized something most organizers haven’t: These people are going to make absolutely certain that nothing actually happens, while giving the illusion of passion.

Of course we should value dissent, which is the essential nature of Lucifer, and should consider objections, detraction and “devil’s advocacy” in good faith before dismissing it, But when it is baseless and incessant, when the detractors do absolutely nothing but detract and are not participants in actually building a movement, they have no place at the table.

True liberation is rooted in morals and reason. It is lucid, it is clear, and it is able to form and follow through with a plan.

Historically, this has never been the work of people calling themselves Luciferians. But you have the ability to change that narrative entirely, and relegate what and who came before as an embarrassing footnote in our religious history.

Charging the Sigil

The Liberator inspires us to break free. Too often, we are led in this life to believe that we are bound, whether by former religion, society, our capitalistic oppressors, even our own families. Our enemies hate us for what we know to be true, that we are our own liberators. We break the chains that bind us and are free to live our lives as we so choose. We have the divine right to liberation as Lucifer gave us this freedom, and we will liberate this world just as he did us.

As we devote our time this month to honoring Lucifer, charging our sigil encourages a deeper connection. If this is your first time charging a symbol like this, you can think of it like a moodboard – this sigil represents us as a community and religion. What does this sigil mean to you? What can it represent? Take the time to focus and reflect, meditate on what each of our concepts mean to you and how they can apply to our lives.

For our energy workers, you may charge our sigil by visualizing a bright white light surrounding it. Use breath work to guide this energy into the sigil, knowing that it grows in strength as you do so. You can also focus our themed concepts into the sigil using meditation and our affirmations to program this energy. This will serve to strengthen our sigil for later use in our ritual.

The following incantation may be used as part of your sigil charging, or used as an affirmation:

“Free thyself, thy chains be broken forevermore.”

Daily Devotion

The Liberator asks us to stop holding ourselves back, and to break free from those who would bind us. Let go of those old beliefs, fears and unhealthy habits. There is no room in our lives for anyone or anything holding us back. Today, take your power back, and draw healthy boundaries for yourself. Break your current patterns and find the core of your being, opening your world to limitless potential. You must be willing to take a stand for yourself in your life, as you are your own Liberator. There is no one coming to help us, no hero to save the day, only us taking a stand to break the chains.

Make Your Own

We encourage you to make your own oracle card for each of our themed days, so that come the end of our Advent, you will have your own Luciferian oracle deck. These cards may be used to give you insight on what you may need to work with in the future.

We recommend using blank playing cards if available, but any kind of art or canvas cards, even lined notecards can be used. Make your drawing or symbol (it doesn’t have to be amazing, only meaningful to you) on one side and on the other write down any key phrases or words or concepts that resonate with the image to you.

If you choose to share your result, which we would love to see, you may use the hashtags #luciferiandominion and #adventoflucifer so that we can find them! If you choose to make your oracle deck part of your #Inktober or #Drawloween events, please feel free to use those hashtags and include them in relevant spaces!

Happy creating during this blessed Advent!
